Kara was one of the most special people in my life. Having been my mother’s best friend since childhood, she naturally became like a second mom - a confidant I was blessed to have in my life.
Kara had the most vibrant personality that everyone gravitated towards; wherever she was, was where you wanted to be.
A master storyteller, with the best sense of humor – she knew just what to say to guide me through trying times, always with a side of a sass.
With that sass, came a heart of gold. She was one of the most generous people I have ever known. If I happened to show interest in a topic, compliment her emerald earrings or note that I’ve been feeling burnt out – she’d quickly schedule a massage, force me to have her earrings, then find and gift me a book on said topic (always signed in the front pocket with “to mon cherie”).
But, more than anything, she encouraged and supported my every idea, every dream, every goal, and everything. She gave me the courage to reach for the things that felt so intangible, and I owe much of my successes in my career to her.
The sudden passing of Kara on November 4th left everyone who knew her distraught, and the world a deeply darker place. In trying to process this loss I was reminded of how lucky I am to have known her, be influenced and shaped by her. I knew I needed to find a way to keep her vivacious spirit alive.
To channel her energy, it is my honor to present The Karina Yerzinkian Fund, where I hope to support and empower other creatives in the pursuit of their dreams – the same way she did for me.
